I can tell you one thing for sure – this guy totally rules! Bleubird is a dream-come-true partner in conversation. No matter what device you are going to use to make it happen, phone, Skype, email. You will always get answers, that make you feel like you did a good job. We are very proud that we are able to have Bleubird on Asymmetry Festival Before Party, because this guy from Florida has all what great artists should have – talent, intelligence, witty sense of humour and great ability to share all of those with other people. Interview with Andy Bothwell  aka Astronautalis

Some time ago we promised you interview with Astronautalis, who is going to one of the main attractions of Asymmetry Festival Before Party. Since we always keep our promises, there you have it! Andy, Astronautalis, even though in recent days is like a busy bee, have found some time space to answer our questions. And guess what, he has Polish roots! None of the biographies mentioned that, so we are in kind of avant-garde. Astronautalis is one smart cookie. A Wroclaw-Warsaw based project known, on a daily basis, as Rekombinacja and Kidd. Their music is a combination of breakcore, nosie and free jazz, that perfectly fits the trends of contemporary, abstract rap. The lyrics, featured in the music, are complicated, dedicated to individuals open to experimentation and extreme music forms.

Jacques Bruna, known as Bluebird, became a part of every community he got to know, during his journey through Florida, Montreal and Berlin. In his nomadic voyage, he numerously shared the stage with such diverse (from his own output) artists like: Deerhoof, Battles, Amon Tobin, Otto Von Schirach, Dalek, Lightning Bolt, Anti Pop Consortium and Xiu Xiu. What is most important, his filled-with-laughter-music, consists a certain kind of lid. “There are things that horrify me, that’s why my lyrics’ mood is such and not different” – says Jacques.

Astronautalis

He started his adventure with music from rap battles as a fifteen year-old. It can be seen until this day, during his live performances, as his freestyle lyrics and based on the subjects chosen by the audience. Despite his strong hip-hop roots, his style is hard to classify. Similarly in the case of his most recent – this time very autobiographical – album “This is Our Science”, on which he resorts to his unrestricted approach to sounds, mixing indie rock, electro and melorecitation. It is a release full of unexpected turns of action, as one never knows what’s going to happen next. The only thing we can do is to get carried away by the story. The following, renown names took part in the creation of the album: Tegan Quin (Tegan & Sara), Radical Face, (Electric President), Cecil Otter (Wugazi) and Lazerbeak (Doomtree)
