Thaw

The band was founded in 2010 and immediately became one of the most interesting black metal projects in Poland. Thaw are part of a group of musicians, who celebrate the process of creation in a particular way. In their fascination with cacophony, noise and nihilism, they reject the generally accepted aesthetic norms and, in the meantime, force the listener to experience every single sound. Their most recent material, despite a little more approachable sound, terrifies at the same degree as the earlier one. The musicians don’t give up on a damp atmosphere, filled with uneasiness; are also able to combine their previous patents with recent trends of the extreme, dark stylistic.

Jacques Bruna, known as Bluebird, became a part of every community he got to know, during his journey through Florida, Montreal and Berlin. In his nomadic voyage, he numerously shared the stage with such diverse (from his own output) artists like: Deerhoof, Battles, Amon Tobin, Otto Von Schirach, Dalek, Lightning Bolt, Anti Pop Consortium and Xiu Xiu. What is most important, his filled-with-laughter-music, consists a certain kind of lid. “There are things that horrify me, that’s why my lyrics’ mood is such and not different” – says Jacques.

He started his adventure with music from rap battles as a fifteen year-old. It can be seen until this day, during his live performances, as his freestyle lyrics and based on the subjects chosen by the audience. Despite his strong hip-hop roots, his style is hard to classify. Similarly in the case of his most recent – this time very autobiographical – album “This is Our Science”, on which he resorts to his unrestricted approach to sounds, mixing indie rock, electro and melorecitation. It is a release full of unexpected turns of action, as one never knows what’s going to happen next. The only thing we can do is to get carried away by the story. The following, renown names took part in the creation of the album: Tegan Quin (Tegan & Sara), Radical Face, (Electric President), Cecil Otter (Wugazi) and Lazerbeak (Doomtree)
