The Ascent of Everest

Genre: post-rock, ambient, experimental, orchestra

The Ascent of Everest is not a classic post-rock band. This eight-piece from Nashville is characterized by a rarely met, among their contemporaries, classic ghost of the genre. They name Krzysztof Penderecki, Nicka Cave, and Christian Fenessz as their inspirations. The matter of the groups instrumentarium is just as atypical: they generate cinematographic landscapes vie the use of such instruments as cello, or violin, and all that in order to omit the usual construction restraints of instrumental rock. One can bring to mind a more courageous Mono or Sigur Ros in an imaginary collaboration with Greenwood.

Obake

Obake is an Italian band, with the line-up consisting of unquestionable fames in the world of avant-garde music, who take part in Zu, Venetian Snares and Merzbow. Eraldo Bernocchi, Massimo Pupillo (who will be substituted, on bass, during the tour, by Trevor Dunn!), Balzas Pandi and Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari, share, unrestrained, a wide spectrum of their musical interest, with the listeners, in this new project and redefine the notion of heavy sounds accompanied by lots of electronics. It is a mutating creature, which smoothly switches from doom to extreme metal, in order to subtly shift towards ambient, jazz and noise.

Æthenor

Genre: ambient, eksperyment, jazz, drone

Æthenor is an international super group founded in 2005 by the “masters of the underground”, taking part in Sunn O))), Mothlite and Ulver. Very quickly, they gathered a strong catalogue of recordings and live performances, during which their music evolved constantly and changed form. David Tibet speaks point-blank about them: “they are spectacular”. They debuted in 2006, with a suggestively entitled album, “Deep in Ocean Sunk the Lamp of Light”. Their music can be described as an atmospheric, constantly shifting track, surrounded by a surprisingly wide range of ways of producing and processing sound. Sparing guitars, engulfed in a magical, almost oniric and ritual passages of jazz-like cocktail, create an electrifying result.
