Be ready for everything. Part 2/2

Second part of the interview with Eraldo of Obake.

Since we living in the age of the Internet, how do you think this medium is going to affect music? Its creation and reception? Do you believe that old fashioned show (I mean, musicians on stage performing music with their instruments) is going to survive or there will be something new? Perhaps only live streamed concerts? Or maybe hologram artists, like for example Hatsune Miku, who is quite big star in Japan right now? What’s your approach on it?

I’m really into new media but I don’t think they will ever replace the energy of a real band on stage. Live streamed concerts are interesting for certain music genres or concepts. Like if I’d do something with Sigillum S on the web, this could be very interesting. As far as Obake, I don’t see it happening. We love the energy sound has by itself. Hatsune Miku it’s interesting, it’s a slice of future already in the present but a good live concert will never be replaced. CONTINUE READING

Black Tusk

Genre: sludge metal

American Savannah is famous due to a number of bands, which can’t be missed. This is the place where such well-known, to the Asymmetry Festival audience, groups as Kylesa and Baroness were founded. Black Tusk, originated in 2005, are a name which is, more and more frequently, listed in a single breath along-side the leaders of contemporary sludge metal; they have all the required predispositions to join that group. The musicians, who are released by the cult label Relapse, have obtained a unique talent, of creating powerful, filthy compositions, which are engraved in one’s memory and don’t allow to pass by them indifferently. All that thanks to the spirit of Black Sabbath which soars over them.

Sleep

Genre: stoner, doom

SLEEP are regarded as pioneers and, at the same time, the most important representatives of stoner rock. Up do this day, whole throngs of bands preforming this particular sub-genre of heavy guitar music draw from them. The band was founded in 1990 and already at the beginning have received favourable opinions from critics and fans, who were seduced by their characteristic, slow tempos and hypnotizing atmosphere. However, numerous arguments with the release label led to band’s split-up eight years later. They have returned, in 2009, to the delight of fans and have immediately reclaimed their place among the leading acts of the genre. Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus influences are clearly audible in their output. They most frequently touch upon the topics taken from the Bible and marijuana in their lyrics.
